Fresher Resume in India: Campus, Off-Campus, and First Job

MineResume · 12 min read · Updated 2026-09-06

Most campus drives in India still want a one-page PDF with education near the top. Off-campus applications on Naukri, LinkedIn, and company portals use the same file. A two-page story of school houses and class 10 percentages wastes space unless the employer asked for a detailed CV.

Order that usually works

  • Name, city, phone, email, LinkedIn. Skip a photo unless the form requires it.
  • One-line summary aimed at the role (SDE intern, analyst, sales trainee).
  • Education: degree, college, years, CGPA if it is reasonably strong.
  • Internships or training, even if unpaid, with real tasks.
  • Projects: 2–4, with tech stack and what you personally built.
  • Skills: languages and tools you can answer questions on.
  • Optional: positions of responsibility, papers, or relevant certificates.

Education details

Include class 12 only if you are a current student or a very recent graduate and the form asks. For a first job after graduation, degree + college is enough. Spell the degree the way your mark sheet does (B.E., B.Tech, B.Com, B.Sc).

Projects instead of empty experience

A project is not a subject name. Write the problem, your part, and the tool. “Library management system in Java” is a title. “Built issue/return flow in Java with MySQL; 4 tables and a CLI for the librarian role” is a bullet a screener can trust.

What campus teams often reject

  • Copied summaries from seniors with different branches.
  • Skill bars and pie charts.
  • Declaring expert in 12 programming languages.
  • Personal details: father name, religion, marital status — unless a government form requires them.

File and template

Export a text-based PDF from MineResume. Name the file Firstname_Lastname_Resume.pdf. Classic and Compact stay readable when printed at a placement cell. Premium sidebars are fine for design or product roles if contact details stay as real text, not images.
